Playing Through the Pain

Playing Through the Pain

In Football season of 2015 Logan Mills hurt his hand/wrist while he was tackling someone.  He said it hurt really bad but didn’t think much of it.  He just figured he probably just got a deep bone bruise.  This is normal in football it usually happens when a helmet hits one of your bones.  It feels like you broke something but almost always is just a deep bone bruise.

So Logan thinking nothing much of it just when on with the season.  He kept telling me that his hand/wrist was bothering him.  It hurt for him to lift weights and hurt when it got hit during a game.  He pushed through the season not wanting to go get it looked because he was worried something was broke and then he wouldn’t be able to play.

It’s now wrestling season and Logan said his hand/wrist is still hurting him. He saw are trainer Wade who told him he should go get a x-ray but Logan never did that. I also told him he needs to go get it looked at but him being his stubborn self said not yet I want to be able to wrestle.  Logan would tape his hand/wrist while at practice and at a tournament.  He said when he does that it didn’t hurt as much. Wrestling season was almost over and it was still hurting him.  I told him once again he needs to go get it looked at but no Logan wanted to play baseball and that was coming up soon.

It’s now baseball season and Logan still hasn’t gone to the doctors to get it looked at.  He says it hurts when he bats and when he throws the ball.  He plays outfield and catcher.  He said he doesn’t really have trouble throwing it into the infield when he is playing outfield.  When he plays catcher you can tell that he has trouble throwing it down to second base when someone is stealing.  His throws would usually be too short, too high, or not completely accurate.  When Logan’s throws to second base would be on point it would hurt his wrist/hand a lot.  During baseball Logan went and saw are trainer Wade who all the athletes go to when something is wrong before going to the doctors and having to spend money.  He once again told Logan he needs to go get an x-ray but once again Logan didn’t go get one.

He went the whole summer of 2016 without getting an x-ray.  Football season finally rolls around and Logan still hasn’t got it looked at.  Finally Logan decides he should go get it looked at.  Just like I told him and everyone else also told him he most likely broke something in his hand/wrist.  When the x-rays came in the doctors told him that he had broken a bone in his hand/wrist area.

The doctors gave him this cast that he can talk on and off and told him that if he didn’t get a cast on it and let it heal that when he was older that bone would be extremely soft and would collapse on him.  Luckily for Logan he can still play football with his cast on.
